About Us

At age 23, I herniated 5 discs (L3,4,5,S1 &2) while 8 months pregnant with my first child. We had just moved into our new home and I was picking up and unpacking boxes to get everything ready for the baby. When I bent over to pick up a box and then lifted it off the floor, I felt the most excruciating pain I have ever experienced.  I called my doctor and went in for an appointment.  I was told that back pain was common during pregnancy.  The only relief I had from the pain was when I was sleeping. After I had my son and still had tremendous back pain, the doctor referred me to an orthopedic surgeon and he ordered an MRI.

After my MRI results of 5 herniated discs my doctor referred me into physical therapy, then eventually an epidural. Neither helped so I was referred in for back surgery.

My mother met a lady one day and mentioned I had been referred in for back surgery and she gave her phone number to my mom and asked me to call her before having the surgery.  I called her and listened in horror to her story of having a botched back surgery and how everyday she was trapped in a prison she could not escape and that prison was her body. She pointed out that I had 18 more years to raise my son and begged me not to have the surgery.

At that point I pursued every form of alternative therapy until my back eventually healed. I practiced yoga and was so uncoordinated that I would fall over in class. I took water aerobics classes, had neuromuscular therapy, went to a chiropractor, did exercises to strengthen my back and finally healed my back. There were any different tools that were recommended to me. I reherniated 2 discs at 40 and then 1 disc at 47.  At 48, I came up with the idea of creating a multi use fitness tool.  These experiences with pain and limited mobility made me very aware of the importance of having a healthy back and body and was the catalyst that makes me so passionate about how Fit Buddy could help others.

After creating the first Fit Buddy we shared it with different professionals (podiatrist, physical therapist, massage therapist, personal trainer, chiropractor, neuromuscular therapist and a yoga instructor) who gave feedback, recommendations and many new ways to use Fit Buddy and help with articulating the special design of both ends.  The feedback received from professionals, family and friends was so positive that manufacturing of the Fit Buddy began so that everyone could experience the amazing benefits.

We love to hear from people using Fit Buddy and the new ways they have discovered to use it. After suffering from 5 herniated discs at age 23 and knowing what it is like to live in a body that was in daily pain for an extended period it is a pleasure to offer such a beneficial fitness/body tool to help others. It takes so much effort to keep a positive attitude and to remain happy when you are in constant pain. Prevention is so much easier than cure. It is my hope for you that you will benefit from this too. It is designed to fit into a carry on bag or gym bag so that you can take it with you and never being out it.

My other passions are playing tennis, meditating, teaching Fit Buddy workshops, cooking, traveling all around the world, hiking and hanging out with family and friends.
